Closed Beta FAQ

What you need to know about Scavengers and how to join up to play

Scavengers is entering a new phase of closed beta. Your participation and feedback will help to define the game’s ongoing development - your voice matters.

Closed Beta phase isn’t a polished beta - you can expect to see bugs, varied performance, and balance issues. However, by participating you get to be one of the first Explorers to venture into the frozen wasteland of Scavengers, and join the development team in this crucial step in the game’s development.

How can I join the Closed Beta?

Our Closed Beta takes place on Steam.

You can get a steam code by submitting your email address on our homepage here or using the "Join Closed Beta" button at the top of this page. What’s Closed Beta for?

Closed Beta is our opportunity to test Scavengers on a large scale. With each test, we always want to focus on our core, single-session game loop: are you enjoying the combat? How is the game pacing? Is there a dominant strategy when it comes to gathering data? Do you have enough strategic options in approaching each game, whether it’s taking down enemy factions, moving quickly around the map, or hunting other players? Your feedback here is always welcome!

WIth Closed Beta and in future patches, we are now further developing on our meta-game progression, research, and additional customization options for your explorers out of game. We’re still in a crucial stage of development, so join our Discord playtest server!

What are the minimum specs for the Playtest?

Windows 10

Processor: Core i5-6500 or equivalent

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 / AMD Radeon R9 380

RAM: 8 GB DirectX: Version 11

Can I stream the Closed Beta?

No. At the moment, we are not permitting live-streaming or the recording and sharing of any in-game footage from Scavengers during Closed Beta.

We’ll let you know when streaming is available. Keep an eye out for updates on our website and social channels. If you’re a content creator and are interested in future streaming opportunities, feel free to send an email to community@playscavengers.com and we’ll get back to you.

Can I play Scavengers on PS4/Xbox?

The Closed Beta is only on Steam right now. The game will be available on consoles in the future. Keep an eye out for future news on this via our website and social channels.

Will the progress I make in the Closed Beta be carried over to the final game?

Player progress and any character unlocks made during the Closed Beta will not transfer over in the final game release, as we want to be able to balance, change, or remove anything to keep the game healthy.

My game crashed during Closed Beta! What happened?

Sorry about that! You should see a window come up with crash details and a button to send a crash report to us. This is an expected part of our Closed Beta process, so please send the report and we’ll take a look at what happened and fix it for the next playtest.

My frames per second sometimes drops...why is that?

Optimization is still ongoing, so for the moment you may need to set your graphics settings a little lower than you’d expect on other titles. However, if you could pass along your system specs and what your current graphics settings are, that’d help us a lot with future optimization. Remember, your feedback is key!

I can't get into the game!

If you’re having technical issues accessing Scavengers please send us a quick message on our #system-support channel in Discord or email our Player Support team at support@playscavengers.com

How do I find my friend in-game and join their team?

While in the lobby you should see Explorers Online to the right. Simply search the drop down menu or type in your friend’s username to invite them to your group.

I’ve got some feedback, how do I share this with you?

We’d love to hear it! You can share your feedback via the in-game survey, or if in our Discord Playtest chat channels.
