Register for the Console Closed Alpha!

20 September 2021

We’re excited to announce that, starting today, Scavengers is in always-on Closed Alpha for Xbox and PlayStation!

As part of our long-time and dedicated community, we’re thrilled to invite you early on to play Scavengers on console; to give feedback, and help us get ready for the big launch to come.

Closed Alpha is a technical preview of Scavengers on console, it isn’t a final, polished version.

It’s a work in progress and we’ll be refining and improving on it over time to reach the same level of quality as the PC experience. As a result, you can expect differences to Scavengers on PC, as well as additional bugs, varied performance, and balance issues. With this in mind, we ask that all players do not livestream or post content from the Closed Alpha.

By participating in our Closed Alpha though, you get to be some of the earliest Console Explorers to venture into the frozen wasteland of Scavengers, and join the development team in this crucial step in the game’s development.

If you have an Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 4, or PlayStation 5, are over the age of 18, and want to give feedback on Scavengers on consoles, you can register for the Closed Alpha by filling out this form!

If you meet our testing criteria, we’ll send you a follow-up email explaining how to get started and how to redeem your Xbox or PlayStation key.

Before you do though, please read through all the key information about Console Closed Alpha below:

Important Dates

Registration for the Console Closed Alpha is available now and will remain open after the Alpha begins. We have a limited amount of keys available, so acceptance for qualified testers will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to register early so you don’t miss out!

We will begin sending out keys to the first wave of console testers soon. If you’re applying for PlayStation keys, we’ll be sending them out immediately for those of you in the Americas and Europe. If you’re in Asia, it might take a bit longer for you to receive your keys, but they will be on their way to you.

While keys are available, we’ll continue to select additional testers, so please keep an eye out for an email inviting you to the Console Closed Alpha!

What’s Available during the Closed Alpha

Console players will be able to enjoy many of the same features as PC Early Access players. Jump into an Expedition Mode match to collect Data for Mother and fight waves of enemy Scourge and Outlanders in Horde Mode! When we run Mutator and time-limited events, you’ll automatically participate in those as well!

You also have access to the same Explorers, weapons, and consumables as your PC counterparts. There will also be no account wipe, so you can keep everything you earn during the Closed Alpha period!

However, there are some features that will not be available on console.

Currently, our ScavLab events will only be available for those who play through Steam or Epic Games Store. If you wish to participate in an experimental and fun ScavLab event, you will need to play on PC.

Once the Alpha begins, cross-play between console and PC players will begin. Explorers from across all three platforms will play with and against each other.

Cross-play will be turned on by default. However, if you want to face only other console players, you can turn cross-play off in the Settings. Given the modest scale of the Console Closed Alpha, we recommend that players enable cross-play to ensure fuller matches when playing.

The matchmaker will prioritize matching players with the same input type. Matches will attempt to group players with controllers together, and players with keyboard and mouse together. However, you may be matched with players who have other input types during low population times.

Cross Progression

At this time, there is no cross-progression or cross-save between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

This means that if you start an account on Steam or Epic Games Store, you can’t switch over to your Xbox or PlayStation and pick up where you left off. The same thing applies if you start out on one console - you’ll be unable to continue your progress on the other console or PC platforms.

During the Console Closed Alpha, real money purchases will be turned off. While you will be able to obtain items through Chips earned in-game, you will be unable to buy Chips or bundles with real money.

However, anything that you do obtain via in-game earned Chips, will be yours forever, as we have no plans to wipe your account after the Closed Alpha ends. As a reminder, there is no cross-progression between console and PC platforms, so anything you purchase on one platform will only be available for that account.

Player Support & Feedback

With more players joining the field and our awesome community continuing to grow, we want to make sure that we provide the best game support for all our players.

If you encounter any technical issues while playing Scavengers, please submit a ticket to our Player Support team. Your question will get passed to the right member of the team to look into and we’ll reply as soon as we can.

You can also join our Discord server and talk to our Community team, as well as other Explorers to share your Scavengers experiences and see if they might have an answer to your question.

You can also help bug report and submit feedback about Scavengers on our Discord server too. Your feedback and suggestions are as important as ever to us. We want to continue building Scavengers with you, so your thoughts and ideas will all go towards our ongoing game improvements and updates on Console and PC - keep sharing them with us!

We’re excited for you to join us during the Console Closed Alpha. Please check out our Console Closed Alpha FAQ which has valuable information.
